Parenthood has the potential of transforming your life. It is a huge milestone that tends to bring out the best in you. With it comes a lot of responsibility and bitter sweet moments too. Exhaustion and frustration are not unknown to parents but miraculously, a glance at the sleeping babies replaces all of that with a smile every single time. Every day is a new day with brand new parenting goals and opportunities.
Why Towards Parenthood?
I had a lot of doubts before I began my journey towards parenthood, so did my husband. Like most other first time parents, with zero experience, we kick started our new life with our baby. Along the way, we realized that it takes a village to raise a baby. It is wonderful if we have a support system, virtual, if not physical. It provides a pool of knowledge to dive into and first hand parenting experiences to pick a tip or two from. That is how Towards Parenthood was born. No, I am not an expert in parenting. Is anybody really? Whatever you read on this blog would have come from personal experiences of parents. Children can be similar and yet so different. Their needs can vary and so will our parenting styles. To me, it feels great to bond with like-minded people and read some reassuring parenting stuff in those very few hours I get to myself once my baby is asleep. This is what Towards Parenthood is all about. A community of parents and your very own support system.
Pregnancy and Childbirth
Pregnancy is accompanied with a lot of advice by well-wishers for the expecting parents. Not all of it maybe good though. Expecting parents have a lot on their plate, from differentiating between good advice and old wives tales, eating healthy, exercising and chalking up a birthing plan to getting the checklist ready for the coming baby.
Once you cross the threshold into parenthood, you discover a newfound respect for parents around you. You begin to empathize and realize that you are part of a much bigger community. From watching a mama breastfeed her baby in the mall to a daddy trying to handle a toddler temper tantrum, we are all in it together.
Life is full of failures, challenges and heartbreaks, but in the end, how you overcome them is all that matters. Parenting too, is full of ups and downs, but you never really give up, do you? Every little thing done right is a huge victory. Why not share your joys, struggles and experiences for the benefit of others? Happy Parenthood!
