Creative New Mom shares Tips & Tricks
Garima was almost always actively participating in our college fests. I remember her being extremely creative and good with art and craft. We were both pursuing engineering at the time and it has been a few years since we graduated.
Recently, a few pictures posted by her on social media caught my eye and I simply could not stop admiring what I saw. She is a new mom and she has found a unique and beautiful way to incorporate her creative skills into laying out the perfect backdrops for her baby’s photoshoot using everyday objects. It was mesmerizing to say the least.
Avyan, the miracle baby!
An Mtech in Computer Science, Garima quit her job during pregnancy only to prepare for her upcoming full time responsibility as a new mom. It’s true; no other job can be as fulfilling as that of a mother. Avyan was born premature at 32 weeks and 5 days. Consequently, he had to stay in NICU for more than three weeks!
We can only imagine what the parents must have gone through at that time. Those who have experienced it would know how distressing such a situation can be. It cannot be easy having to wait for so long before you can finally bring your baby home.
Much to his parent’s relief, 7 month old Avyan, whose name means ‘Lord Vishnu’, is absolutely fine now and is being showered with all the love he so deserves. He loves bath time and ‘Old Mc’Donald had a farm’ is his favorite rhyme. He enjoys a good chat with the ceiling fan every now and then, loves playing with his daddy. A toy that has been named ‘Ele’ by his mommy is his favorite. He loves bright colours and I think it is the creative mommy’s genes doing their work there.
Garima is enjoying motherhood and is so happy to relive her childhood with her son. She is a doting mother and like most of us parents, she is very proud of every little achievement of her child. Her joy knows no bounds as she watches Avyan grow each day. Undoubtedly, he is the love of her life.
What inspired this creative mommy to bring her ideas to life?
She explained that she has always had a keen interest in crafting. She loves spending time doing creative work, sketching, card making etc. It is her passion. Now that she has a cute little baby, she wanted to find a way to make some unique, creative memories with him. Besides, she knew that she couldn’t just sit with her craft supplies lying around, without putting them to some good use. So, this is where she drew her inspiration for the photoshoot from, her son.
She has now set to work to capture each moment creatively and we can all see how well she has done. This new mom knows that Avyan will not be so patient always and will soon be running around. It will then probably get extremely difficult to make her ideas work. Therefore, this is the best time to have this done. I personally feel that it is amazing and praise worthy that she has been able to do this even now with a little baby around. Most of us struggle to get even the daily chores completed on time!
What materials did she use to create these lovely backdrops?
Surprisingly, she didn’t have to buy any special props or material to bring her ideas to life. She used clothes, papers, toys and household items only. Ofcourse, it takes several clicks to get that one perfect shot. Patience is the key, she explains. The time to set up varied with each idea, depending on how much or little needed to be done. It definitely takes a lot of creativity but there is a lot of love that went into it too. It is quite evident from the pictures she has taken. Moreover, I specially love the fact that she managed to click the pictures herself! Kudos, super mommy! Garima hopes to be able to enjoy a lot of mommy-son creative time once he grows up a bit. Furthermore, she would love to help him out with his art and craft projects later. How sweet is that!
